چکیده
Pilots in long-duration flight missions single-seat aircraft may be affected by fatigue. This study determined associations between cognitive performance, emotions and physiological activation deactivation – measured heart rate variability (HRV) a simulated 11-h mission the 39 Gripen aircraft. Twelve participants volunteered for study. Perceived fatigue was Samn-Perelli Fatigue Index (SPFI). Cognitive performance non-executive executive tasks. Emotions were assessed Circumplex Affect Space instrument. HRV considered relation to tasks four time points Hours 3, 5, 7, 9 their with emotional ratings. Results indicated decrease task after approximately 7 h. result correlated self-reported measures of HRV, indices parasympathetic modulation, remained unchanged both over (p > .05 all). Significant correlations observed HRV; increased boredom, passiveness, decreased stimulation, activeness, indicators < .05). suggests that low self-regulatory effort maintaining these conditions prevalent pilots could adapt some degree demands missions.

Crew fatigue during simulated, long duration B-1B bomber missions.
Crew fatigue associated with successive and unaugmented 36 h missions was evaluated in B-1B simulators. Data were obtained from 32 operationally qualified crewmembers. All crew-members completed three consecutive, long duration missions, each preceded by 33 to 35 h of crew rest. Oral temperature, salivary melatonin and cortisol, as well as actigraph and subjective measures, were collected durin...
متن کاملActivity Planning for Long Duration Space Missions
For long duration, manned exploration to be cost-effective, it is necessary to automate routine manual operations. To enable such automated control, activity plans must coordinate the activities of the crew with other automated “agents” including robots, life support systems, and vehicle systems. An important challenge is assisting the crew in using automated planning software to construct and ...
متن کاملArtificial gravity as a countermeasure for mitigating physiological deconditioning during long-duration space missions
In spite of the experience gained in human space flight since Yuri Gagarin's historical flight in 1961, there has yet to be identified a completely effective countermeasure for mitigating the effects of weightlessness on humans. Were astronauts to embark upon a journey to Mars today, the 6-month exposure to weightlessness en route would leave them considerably debilitated, even with the impleme...
متن کاملGoal-Driven Autonomy and Robust Architecture for Long-Duration Missions
During the most recent period of performance, the team has refined the major implemented functions of our MIDCA architecture at the cognitive level (Cox, 2013; Paisner, Cox, Maynord, & Perlis, 2014) and has started work on an analogous metacognitive cycle at the meta-level (Dannenhauer, Cox, Gupta, Paisner & Perlis, 2014; Perlis & Cox, 2014). We produced substantial progress on the knowledge-ri...
