Cognition of Graphical Notation for Processing Data in ERDAS IMAGINE

This article presents an evaluation of the ERDAS IMAGINE Spatial Model Editor from perspective effective cognition. Workflow models designed in are used for automatic processing remote sensing data. The process steps as a chain operations workflow model. functionalities and visual vocabulary both important users. cognitive quality increases comprehension workflows during creation utilization. influences user’s exploitation models. complex Physics Notations theory was applied to on Editor. results were supplemented verified using eye-tracking method. user gaze movement eyes above brought real insight into cognition main findings that mostly fulfils requirements vocabulary. Namely, semantic transparency dual coding symbols very high, according theory. perceptual discriminability through eye-tracking. show curved connector lines adversely affect velocity reading produce errors. application method provides useful graphical notation well recommendations design their practice.
