Coffee Wastes as Sustainable Flame Retardants for Polymer Materials

Development of green flame retardants has become a core part the attention material scientists and technologists in paradigm shift from general purpose to specific sustainable products. This work is first report on use coffee biowastes as for epoxy, typical highly flammable polymer. We used spent grounds (SCG) well SCG chemically modified with phosphorus (P-SCG) develop efficient retardant. A considerable reduction peak heat release rate (pHRR) by 40% was observed pyrolysis combustion flow calorimeter analysis (PCFC), which proved merit being polymers. would open new opportunities investigate impact other sorts wastes rather than different sectors industry polymers family.
