CO2 MEASUREMENT IN PALM OIL PLANT IN PEATLAND

چکیده
Peatlands are one of the contributors to greenhouse gas emissions because it is estimated that carbon stock stored in them around 528 Giga tons (Gt) or equivalent 75% total (C) atmosphere, so if peat oxidized will cause be released into air. The conversion forest land agricultural can causes, including activity making drainage channels. construction channels causes a decrease water table volume under aerobic conditions increases while increasing microorganisms decomposing peat. Peat decomposition and root respiration contribute emissions. This study aims determine CO2 concentration several oil palm roots. measurement by survey method on plantations, using IRGA (Infra Red Gas Analyzer). Measurements carried out once per month from January May 2020 for 3 minutes. point observation was determined 2 factors with treatments replications. Remotely sensed evidence of tropical peatland conversion to oil palm.
Rising global demands for food and biofuels are driving forest clearance in the tropics. Oil-palm expansion contributes to biodiversity declines and carbon emissions in Southeast Asia. However, the magnitudes of these impacts remain largely unquantified until now. We produce a 250-m spatial resolution map of closed canopy oil-palm plantations in the lowlands of Peninsular Malaysia (2 million ha...
متن کاملPlant functional types define magnitude of drought response in peatland CO2 exchange.
Peatlands are important sinks for atmospheric carbon (C), yet the role of plant functional types (PFTs) for C sequestration under climatic perturbations is still unclear. A plant-removal experiment was used to study the importance of vascular PFTs for the net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE) during (i.e., resistance) and after (i.e., recovery) an experimental drought. The removal of PFTs caused a d...
متن کاملSupercritical Fluid Extraction of β-Carotene from Crude Palm Oil Using CO2 in a Bubbler Extractor: Mass Transfer Study
In this study, the diffusivity and volumetric mass transfer coefficients for the extraction of β-carotene from crude palm oil using CO2 solvent in supercritical fluid were determined in the pressure range of 7.5-17.5 MPa and temperature range of 80-120 ºC. For this purpose, a statistical method was applied in order to minimize the number of experiments required. The volumetric ma...
متن کاملMutual Solubility Study in Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Tocopherols from Crude Palm Oil Using CO2 Solvent
In this article, the mutual solubility of tocopherols from crude palm oil was studied using carbon dioxide as a solvent at the temperatures of 80, 100 and 120 °C. Each sample from the phase equilibrium unit contained two parts. The liquid part was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) in order to measure the tocopherol composition and, on the other hand, the vapor phase was conducted in an expans...
