CO2 and CH4 Emissions from an Arid Fluvial Network on the Chinese Loess Plateau

چکیده
The emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from inland waters are an important component the global carbon (C) cycle. However, current understanding GHGs arid river systems remains largely unknown. To shed light on in regions, high-resolution dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emission measurements were carried out Kuye River Basin (KRB) Chinese Loess Plateau to examine their spatio-temporal variability. Our results show that all streams rivers net C sources, but some reservoirs KRB became sinks at certain times. CO2 flux (FCO2) recorded (91.0 mmol m−2 d−1) was higher than (10.0 d−1), while CH4 (FCH4) (0.35 lower (0.78 d−1). best model developed a number environmental parameters able explain almost 40% variability partial pressure (pCO2) for reservoirs, respectively. For emissions, least 70% occurred form ebullition. summer more threefold spring autumn, with water temperature being key variable affecting rates. Since construction can alter morphology existing fluvial consequently characteristics we conclude future sampling efforts conducted basin scale need cover both concurrently.

Short-Term Effects of Drying and Rewetting on CO2 and CH4 Emissions from High-Altitude Peatlands on the Tibetan Plateau
This study used mesocosms to examine the effects of alternate drying and rewetting on CO2 and CH4 emissions from high-altitude peatlands on the Tibetan Plateau. The drying and rewetting experiment conducted in this study included three phases: a 10-day predrying phase, a 32-day drying phase, and an 18-day rewetting phase. During the experiment, the water table varied between 0 and 50 cm with re...
متن کاملTetraether biomarker records from a loess-paleosol sequence in the western Chinese Loess Plateau
The ubiquitous occurrence of glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) in soils and their ability to record temperature and environmental changes offer the prospect of independently reconstructing continental paleotemperature and paleoenvironment from the loess-paleosol sequences (LPS) from the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP). In this study we present records of GDGT-derived proxies for the las...
