Clustered star formation toward Berkeley 87/ON2

چکیده
Context. Disentangling line-of-sight alignments of young stellar populations is crucial for observational studies star-forming complexes. This task particularly problematic in a Cygnus-X subregion where several components, located at different distances, overlap: the Berkeley 87 massive cluster, poorly known [DB2001] Cl05 embedded and ON2 complex, which turn composed H II regions. Aims. We provide methodology building an exhaustive census objects that can consistently treat large differences extinction distance. Methods. OMEGA2000 near-infrared observations 87/ON2 field were merged with archival data from Gaia , Chandra Spitzer Herschel cross-identifications literature. To address incompleteness effects selection biases arise overlap, we adapted existing methods estimation object classification. also defined intrinsic reddening index, R int new tool separating intrinsically red sources those whose infrared color excess caused by extinction. Finally, introduce method finding based on . Results. find 571 classification related to recent or ongoing star formation. Together other point individual estimates distance extinction, compile catalog 3005 be used further membership work. A 87, (1673 ± 17) pc, estimated as median 13 spectroscopic members accurate EDR3 parallaxes. Conclusions. The flexibility our approach, especially regarding definition, allows overcoming photometric variations order obtain homogeneous catalogs sources. multiwavelength results applying will serve basis disentangling overlapped populations.

Clustered Star Formation in W 75
We present 2 ′′ to 7 ′′ resolution 3 mm continuum and CO(J=1−0) line emission and near infrared K s , H 2 , and [FeII] images toward the massive star forming region W75 N. The CO emission uncovers a complex morphology of multiple, overlapping outflows. A total flow mass of > 255 M ⊙ extends 3 pc from end-to-end and is being driven by at least four late to early-B protostars. More than 10% of th...

I review some important questions in the field of massive star formation: What are the initial conditions for proto star clusters and how do they arise? What are the initial conditions for individual massive star formation within star clusters? How do massive protostars accumulate their mass? I compare the Turbulent Core Model (McKee & Tan 2003) to several nearby regions, including Orion KL. He...
متن کاملThickening of galactic disks through clustered star formation
The building blocks of galaxies are star clusters. These form with low-star formation efficiencies and, consequently, loose a large part of their stars that expand outwards once the residual gas is expelled by the action of the massive stars. Massive star clusters may thus add kinematically hot components to galactic field populations. This kinematical imprint on the stellar distribution functi...
متن کاملBeyond the nuclear starburst? Clustered star formation in major mergers
Recent simulation work has successfully captured the formation of the star clusters that have been observed in merging galaxies. These studies, however, tend to focus on studying extreme starbursts, such as the Antennae galaxies. We aim to establish whether there is something special occurring in these extreme systems or whether the mechanism for cluster formation is present in all mergers to a...
متن کاملDust emission and star formation toward a redshift 5.5 QSO
We report observations of the low-luminosity z = 5.50 quasar RD J030117+002025 (RD0301 hereafter) at 250 GHz (1.20 mm) using the Max-Planck Millimeter Bolometer (MAMBO) array at the IRAM 30-meter telescope. The quasar was detected with a 1.2 mm flux density of 0.87 ± 0.20 mJy. The lack of detectable 1.4 GHz radio emission indicates that the millimeter emission is of thermal nature, making RD030...
