چکیده

Abstract BACKGROUND As regulators put more attention on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in oncology clinical trials, it is vital to understand patient preferences and motivation for completing PROs. We investigated motivations symptom reporting how this may differ between participants with cancer other chronic non-oncology diseases. METHODS Participants completed an online survey focusing using devices report symptoms what motivates them complete Statistical analyses included a descriptive analysis of responses Chi-Squared tests examine differences subgroups (oncology vs. arthritis, diabetes, obstructive pulmonary disease). RESULTS (N = 16) preferred their own smartphone (31%) over going website (19%) or study-dedicated device (6%) symptoms, 44% being happy any option (44%). 88% reported that receiving regular information help manage would motivate the most PROs basis. Receiving small financial compensation (81%) knowing data was reviewed by healthcare professional (75%) were also strong motivators The least motivator form charity donations (25%). Tailoring patient information to encourage patient engagement

This paper proposes a new method for tailoring health information based on an individual’s dominant attitudes and information processing style which can be digitally operationalized and delivered direct to the patient. This individualized approach is based on principles previously used as the basis for mass-marketing campaigns, including smoking and other public health issues but not previously...

Patient-reported outcomes in neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis clinical trials.

OBJECTIVES Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disease with multiple clinical manifestations that can significantly impact quality of life (QOL). Clinical trials should include patient-reported outcomes (PROs) as endpoints to assess treatment effects on various aspects of QOL, but there is no consensus on the selection and use of such measures in NF. This article describes the PRO Working Group...

Patient-reported outcomes in ovarian cancer clinical trials.

There is general acceptance of the importance of incorporating patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures including health-related quality of life (HRQOL) into clinical trials, and there are now a number of guidance documents available on how to use PRO's for regulatory authorities and in comparative effectiveness research. The methods used to collect, analyse and report PRO data in clinical trial...

Patient reported outcomes and patient empowerment in clinical genetics services.

Evaluation of clinical genetics services (CGS), including genetic counseling and genetic testing, has been problematic. Patient mortality and morbidity are unlikely to be directly improved by interventions offered in CGS. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are not routinely measured in CGS evaluation, but this may change as patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) become a key part of how health...
