چکیده
The vasa gene is essential for germ cell development and gametogenesis both in vertebrates invertebrates. In the present study, (Rcvasa) cDNA was cloned from cobia (Rachycentron canadum) using RACE amplification method. We found that full-length sequence of Rcvasa comprises 2571 bp, containing a 5′-UTR 145 3′-UTR 341 an open reading frame (ORF) 2085 encoding protein 694 aa. deduced amino acid contains 8 conserved motifs DEAD-box family, 7 RGG repeats, 10 RG repeats N-terminal region. Comparisons with those other teleosts revealed highest percentage identity (86.0%) Seriola quinqueradiata. By semiquantitative RT-PCR, appeared to be specifically expressed testis ovary, among 13 tissues analyzed. addition, annual changes expression levels were examined gonads by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). first increased significantly at 120 dph (stage II–III), then stabilized as developed 185 III) 360 V). During ovary I II), reached level 210 decreased. Furthermore, results chromogenic situ hybridization (CISH) mRNA mainly cells barely detected somatic cells. testis, signal concentrated periphery spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes weaker spermatids spermatozoa. uniformly distributed perinuclear cytoplasm intense early oocytes II). These findings could provide reference understanding regulatory mechanisms during cobia.

Antioxidant effect of ascorbic acid on the quality of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage
The effect of aqueous solutions of ascorbic acid (AA) on the rancidity development in Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage was studied. Cobia fillets were treated with ascorbic acid (AA 0.25% and AA 0.5%) then stored at -18°C up to 6 months. Rancidity development was measured by several biochemical indices including free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), and thiobarb...
متن کاملCardio-respiratory function during exercise in the cobia, Rachycentron canadum: The impact of crude oil exposure.
Aerobic exercise capacity is dependent on the cardiorespiratory system's ability to supply oxygen at a rate that meets energetic demands. In teleost fish crude oil exposure, with the associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH's), reduces exercise performance and this has been hypothesized to be due to compromised cardiovascular function. In this study, we test this hypothesis by simultane...

متن کاملFirst record of Tuxophorus caligodes (Siphonostomatoida, Tuxophoridae) in sea-farmed cobia, Rachycentron canadum, in Brazil.
The cobia is the only representative of the Rachycentridae family and, because of its zootechnical qualities, production of this fish has been implemented in several countries, such as the United States, Mexico and Brazil. Tuxophorus caligodes is a widespread parasite of marine fish worldwide. For the present report, 15 juvenile cobias were collected from net cages on a fish farm in Ilhabela, s...

In this study changes in fatty acids profile during frozen storage at -18°C of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum), caught from the Persian Gulf (Bandar Abbas) were studied. Changes in saturated fatty acids (SFAs), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), EPA+DHA/C16, n-3 PUFA/n-6 PUFA (n-3/n-6) and polyunsaturated fatty acids /saturated fatty acids (PUFA/SFA) were i...
