Antinuclear Factor in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Its Incidence and Clinical Significance.
The antinuclear factor (ANF) test has been used in the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) for some years since it was first described in 1957 (Friou, Finch, and Detre, 1957; Holborow, Weir, and Johnson, 1957) and in this Unit it has been positive in every case of clinically active lupus erythematosus tested. ANF has also been found in the sera in some cases of rheumatoid arthritis ...
متن کاملAnticardiolipin Antibodies in Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Background: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) can either occur as a primary syndrome or associated with other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) of IgG and/or IgM isotype in blood, measured by a standardized ELISA is the most acceptable laboratory criteria. APS IgG isotype, particularly IgG2 subclass is more strongly associated ...
متن کاملInduction of antinuclear antibodies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis receiving treatment with human recombinant interferon gamma.
Of six patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated with human recombinant interferon gamma for two to eight months, three developed antinuclear antibodies (ANAs). This was accompanied by a simultaneous clinical exacerbation of the disease activity. In this study both anti-inflammatory and immunostimulatory effects of human recombinant interferon gamma in patients with RA were observed.
متن کاملEosinophil-specific and other granulocyte-specific antinuclear antibodies in juvenile chronic polyarthritis and adult rheumatoid arthritis.
Sera from 151 children of whom 112 had juvenile chronic polyarthritis (JCP), and from adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and from healthy pregnant females were tested for the presence of granulocyte-specific antinuclear antibodies (GS-ANA). These were detected in 20% of sera from cases of JCP, in 68% of adult RA, but in none of the controls. Eosinophil-specific ANA were the only ANA present...
متن کاملdiagnostic value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
objective: anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-ccp) antibodies are highly specific markers for rheumatoid arthritis (ra) and useful for predicting rheumatoid arthritis (ra) development and progression. we assessed the diagnostic value of anti-ccp antibodies in our patients with ra. materials and methods: anti-ccp antibodies and rheumatoid factor (rf) titers were determined in 247 serum sam...
