Clinical Outcomes of Open-Wedge Varus Derotation Osteotomy in Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease Among 6-12-Year-Old Children

Background Legg-Calve-Perthes (LCP) disease during early childhood might lead to impaired blood circulation the femoral head causing osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis of head. In most cases children diagnosed after age nine years, progression LCP is associated with poor outcomes disability. This study aimed evaluate clinical radiological varus derotation osteotomy in LCD a late presentation at 6-12 years age. Methodology prospective was performed among 25 6-12-year-old who were disease. Children classified per Herring’s Lateral Pillar Catterall classification. They treated open-wedge osteotomy, clinical, radiological, functional parameters assessed postoperatively. The postoperative grading done using Results this study, significant improvement mean Harris Hip Score (82.96 ± 4.3 vs. 85.36 3.75; p = 0.000) observed. addition, muscle mass reduced postoperatively compared preoperative (2.64 3.82 8.52 3.73 mm; 0.000).
