چکیده
Studies on actively stressed 3. equi infected premuned indigenous polo horses, manifested severe clinical syndromes characterised by partial anorexia, hyperthermia, lethargy, extreme weakness, marked dehydration, ecchymotic third eyelid, pale mucous membranes, sternal recumbency and coma. Some horses showed complete obvious colicy symptoms, watery blood, haemoglobinuria. The haematological changes in the affected included highly significantly (P<0.01) low packed cell volume, reduced haemoglobin concentration, depleted red blood counts neutrophils lymphocytes.

Molecular and microscopic detection of Theileria equi and Babesia caballi in horses in Kurdestan Province, Iran
Equine piroplasmosis is a tick-borne disease caused by intra-erythrocyte protozoa, Theileria equi and Babesia caballi. The present study aimed to detect piroplasm infection in horses in Kurdestan Province, Iran, through molecular and microscopic approaches.n this study, 186 blood samples were randomly collected from horses of five regions of Kurdestan Province. The Tbs-S/Tbs-A primer set was us...
متن کاملAn investigation into the clinical pathological changes and serological response in horses experimentally infected with Babesia equi and Babesia caballi.
Serologically negative horses, as determined with the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFA), were infected with Babesia equi and 60 days later with Babesia caballi. The only clinical signs of disease observed in these animals were a febrile reaction and slight icterus. Haematological changes included a drop in haematocrit and haemoglobin concentration, as well as lowered platelet counts. The...

Equine piroplasmosis is a severe disease of horses caused by the intra-erythrocyte protozoan, Theileria equi and Babesia caballi. The aim of this study was to identify equine piroplasmosis based on molecular and morphometrical features in horses in suburb of Urmia, West Azerbaijan province, Iran. From April to September 2011, a total number of 240 blood samples were collected ...
متن کاملSeroepidemiologic studies on Babesia equi and Babesia caballi infections in horses in Jilin province of China.
The prevalence of equine piroplasmosis caused by Babesia equi and Babesia caballi in northeast China has remained unknown, although the People's Republic of China is recognized as an endemic country for the diseases. In the present study, we investigated the prevalence of equine piroplasmosis in Jilin province, a part of northeast China. A total of 111 serum samples were taken from horses in ea...
متن کاملPersistently infected horses are reservoirs for intrastadial tick-borne transmission of the apicomplexan parasite Babesia equi.
Tick-borne pathogens may be transmitted intrastadially and transstadially within a single vector generation as well as vertically between generations. Understanding the mode and relative efficiency of this transmission is required for infection control. In this study, we established that adult male Rhipicephalus microplus ticks efficiently acquire the protozoal pathogen Babesia equi during acut...
