Climate change intensifies the drought vulnerability of river basins: a case of the Magat River Basin

Abstract The socioeconomic impact of climate change on the drought vulnerability a significant agricultural river basin in Philippines, Magat River Basin (MRB), was assessed using AHP-entropy approach and GIS techniques. different indicators dimensions have been evaluated results this study imply that current susceptibility MRB is at 1.9–3.39 min–max scale or from low to above moderate, where basin's sensitivity exposure account for 57 31% total vulnerability, respectively. And resulting adaptive capacity has mitigating factor only 12%, thereby construed be very low. Santa Fe Subbasin 2 sub-watersheds are identified moderately susceptible with an average rating 3.1 3.25, Meanwhile, other subbasins between 2.08 2.91, which approximately moderate level. overall projected increase due under future scenarios up 30% (High) Catalyzing effective policies governance highly encouraged further improve mitigation adaptation measures.
