Climate Change Impacts on Cacao: Genotypic Variation in Responses of Mature Cacao to Elevated CO2 and Water Deficit

چکیده
Climate change poses a significant threat to agricultural production in the tropics, yet relatively little research has been carried out understand its impact on mature tropical tree crops. This aims genotypic variation growth and photosynthesis cacao trees response elevated CO2 water deficit. Six genotypes were grown under greenhouse conditions at ambient (ca. 437 ppm) 724 well-watered deficit for 23 months. Leaf- canopy-level photosynthesis, water-use efficiency, vegetative increased significantly CO2. Water had negative effect many photosynthetic parameters reduced biomass production. The of quantum efficiency was alleviated by Genotypic observed several including stomatal conductance, density index, production, indicating potential develop more climate-change-resilient that can cope with predicted future climate conditions. Elevated some effects through changes light utilisation accumulation, but this genotype-specific.

Molecular, Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Theobroma cacao L. Genotypes to Soil Water Deficit
Six months-old seminal plants of 36 cacao genotypes grown under greenhouse conditions were subjected to two soil water regimes (control and drought) to assess, the effects of water deficit on growth, chemical composition and oxidative stress. In the control, soil moisture was maintained near field capacity with leaf water potentials (ΨWL) ranging from -0.1 to -0.5 MPa. In the drought treatment,...

Physiological and biomass responses of six genotypes of Populus tremuloides Michx., grown in ambient t (357 micromol mol(-1)) or twice ambient (707 micromol mol(-1)) CO2 concentration ([CO2]) and in low-N or high-N soils, were studied in 1995 and 1996 in northern Lower Michigan, USA. There was a significant CO2 x genotype interaction in photosynthetic responses. Net CO2 assimilation (A) was sig...

Climate has always been changing during the lifetime of the earth, and has appeared in the form of the ice age, hurricanes, severe and sudden temperature changes, precipitation and other climatic elements, and has dramatically influenced the environment, and in some cases has caused severe changes and even destructions. Some of the most important aspects of climate changes can be found in preci...

We simulate the effect of climate change on water requirements of cold seasonwheat in various climatic zones of Iran. The research considers both observedclimate (temperature and precipitation) changes during recent decades (1960-2009)based on instrumental records and projected future changes to 2100 based on theMAGICC/SCENGEN 5.3 compound model. 20 General Circulation models are usedbased on a...
