Surgically induced astigmatism after phacoemulsification by temporal clear corneal and superior clear corneal approach: a comparison
Introduction Cataract surgery has undergone various advances since it was evolved from ancient couching to the modern phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) remains one of the most common complications. The introduction of sutureless clear corneal incision has gained increasing popularity worldwide because it offers several advantages over the traditional sut...
متن کاملReduction in IOP after clear corneal phacoemulsification in normal patients.
A prospective study was performed to evaluate the changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) after clear corneal phacoemulsification in normal patients. The mean preoperative IOP of 30 patients was compared with the IOP at 1, 2, 3, and 5 months postoperatively. Lens extraction was associated with a reduction of IOP of 3.36 mmHg (SD +/- 2.33--p = 0.005) after 5 months.
متن کاملSmall Pupil Clear Corneal Phacoemulsification Surgery
The increased acceptance of topical anesthesia, phacoemulsification and foldable intraocular lenses (IOLs), have advanced the techniques of microincision clear corneal cataract surgery.1 Operating through these small (less than 3.0 mm), corneal incisions have placed new demands on surgeons to effectively and safely remove the cataract and implant the IOL without increasing the risk of corneal, ...
متن کاملAstigmatic Outcomes of Temporal versus Nasal Clear Corneal Phacoemulsification
PURPOSE To compare the astigmatic outcomes of phacoemulsification cataract surgery using temporal versus nasal clear corneal incisions. METHODS In a clinical trial, consecutive patients with senile cataracts underwent phacoemulsification and implantation of a hydrophobic acrylic foldable intraocular lens through a horizontal clear corneal incision (temporal in right and nasal in left eyes). O...
متن کاملCorneal Problems during and after Phacoemulsification by Beginner Phacoemulsification Surgeon
Objective: To determine the corneal problems faced during and after phacoemulsification (phaco) as a beginner of phaco surgeries Methodology: Corneal problems in 100 cases of phaco were retrospectively analysed. Those cases with nuclei +3 / above and those who were operated in camps were excluded. Phaco-chop technique was used in 80% of cases. Average duration of surgery was 20 minutes Results:...
