Clean fuels synthesis from green hydrogen: a techno-economic comparative analysis

In this paper, two different power-to-fuel solutions for sustainable fuel synthesis are investigated from the energetic, environmental, and economic standpoints. Both consider a pressurized PEM electrolysis section, fed by renewable sources, where high purity green Hydrogen is produced. Then, separate processes of distinct chemicals. first case, hydrogen mixed with CO 2 , sequestered an industrial plant, captured carbon capture system (CCS): gases sent to reactor methanol synthesis. second N obtained air separation unit (ASU), ammonia performed at pressures temperatures, thus thermodynamic analysis mandatory in order calculate overall efficiencies. both cases, power plants also terms. Methanol presents slightly higher efficiency compared ammonia, while very similar standpoint.
