Circulatory histidine levels as predictive indicators of disease activity in takayasu arteritis

چکیده
Background and objective Quantitative assessment of disease activity is important for effective management patients with autoimmune inflammatory diseases (AIDs) including Takayasu arteritis (TA). Histidine supplementation alleviates inflammation has strong anti-oxidative effects as well. The present study aims to evaluate the diagnostic potential circulatory histidine predicting in TA. Methods serum metabolic profiles on 98 TA-patients 77 normal controls (NC) samples were measured at high-resolution 800 MHz NMR spectrometer employing standard 1D-1H-CPMG experiments. spectral data processed concentrations other metabolites estimated respect formate (as an internal reference) compared using ANOVA based Tukey's multiple comparison test statistical significance was considered P-value < 0.05. correlations plasma CRP ESR levels evaluated Spearman-r method. Data expressed median (interquartile-range [IQR]). Results significantly decreased active TA (23.90; IQR:16.10) both inactive (35.50, IQR:24.30) NC (42.80, IQR:22.10), whereas there no significant difference between NC. For patients, correlated negatively clinical markers inflammation, that is, (r = -0.19, P .078) -0.26, .013). Further, receiver-operating-characteristic (ROC) curve analysis performed differentiating from disease. area under ROC (AUROC) value equal 0.65 [95% CI 0.54-0.76] revealed its moderate discriminatory ability. Compared metabolites, performance also found be range (highest AUROC-value 0.76 glutamine-to-glucose ratio (QGR). Conclusion demonstrated altered may serve a surrogate marker improving screening patients.

Takayasu arteritis in Crohn’s disease
Takayasu arteritis is a chronic vasculitis of unknown origin. Its incidence is low in the United States and Europe (1 to 3 new cases per year per million population) (9,17,28). Sporadically, association between Takayasu arteritis and inflammatory bowel disease has been described, both in Crohn’s disease (5-7, 13, 15,17,19,23,29,31,32,38,40,41,43,50,52,54) and ulcerative colitis (1,3,4,8,14,22,2...
متن کاملMatrix metalloproteinases as novel disease markers in Takayasu arteritis.
BACKGROUND Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic vasculitis that primarily affects large elastic arteries. Monitoring of disease activity is crucial because the disease tends to progress despite treatment with glucocorticoid and/or immunosuppressive agents. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) have generally been used as disease activity markers, but these are nonspe...
متن کاملTakayasu arteritis in a young female
Background: Takayasu arteritis is a granulomatous vasculitis which mainly involves the large arterial vessels. The disease is rare and it is more common in females aged between 15-30 years old. In this paper, we report a case of takayasu arteritis in Babol, north of Iran. Case Presentation: A 22 - year old female was admitted to the Department of Infectious Diseases of Rouhani Teaching Hospital...
متن کاملGhrelin and adipokines as circulating markers of disease activity in patients with Takayasu arteritis
INTRODUCTION The current markers of disease activity in Takayasu arteritis (TA) are insufficient for proper assessment. We investigated circulating levels of unacylated and acylated ghrelin, leptin and adiponectin and their relationships with disease activity in patients with TA. METHODS This study included 31 patients with TA and 32 sex-, age- and body mass index-matched healthy controls. Di...
