Circadian Rhythms in Parkinson’s Disease
نویسندگان
چکیده
Circadian rhythm is a biological process that regulates neuronal, metabolic, and hormonal functions following 24-hour cycle. Parkinson’s disease (PD) progressive neurodegenerative disorder, it exhibits diurnal fluctuations in motor non-motor symptoms. Recently, increasing attention has been paid to circadian dysfunction PD patients. This review summarizes the existing research on rhythms especially endogenous markers, clinical symptoms, available treatment options.

Circadian rhythms and cardiovascular disease
Diurnal variations in the myocardium have been described at several levels, including gene expression, cellular signaling, metabolism, contractile function, and dysfunction. Regarding myocardial metabolism, carbohydrate, fatty acid, amino acid/protein, and coenzyme metabolism have all been shown to oscillate in the heart in a manner dependent on the time of day. The purpose of this review is to...
متن کاملCircadian rhythms in insect disease vectors
Organisms from bacteria to humans have evolved under predictable daily environmental cycles owing to the Earth's rotation. This strong selection pressure has generated endogenous circadian clocks that regulate many aspects of behaviour, physiology and metabolism, anticipating and synchronising internal time-keeping to changes in the cyclical environment. In haematophagous insect vectors the cir...
متن کاملSundowning and circadian rhythms in Alzheimer's disease.
OBJECTIVE The goal of this study was to determine changes of circadian rhythms induced by Alzheimer's disease and to explore relationships among rhythm disturbances, sundowning, and sleep disturbances in patients with Alzheimer's disease. "Sundowning" is the occurrence or exacerbation of behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in the afternoon and evening. METHOD Circadian rhythms of core ...
متن کاملCircadian rhythms in liver metabolism and disease
Mounting research evidence demonstrates a significant negative impact of circadian disruption on human health. Shift work, chronic jet lag and sleep disturbances are associated with increased incidence of metabolic syndrome, and consequently result in obesity, type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia. Here, these associations are reviewed with respect to liver metabolism and disease.
متن کاملLinks between Circadian Rhythms and Psychiatric Disease
Determining the cause of psychiatric disorders is a goal of modern neuroscience, and will hopefully lead to the discovery of treatments to either prevent or alleviate the suffering caused by these diseases. One roadblock to attaining this goal is the realization that neuropsychiatric diseases are rarely due to a single gene polymorphism, environmental exposure, or developmental insult. Rather, ...
