چکیده
Abstract Opioid dependence is frequent in people with HIV (PWH), but impact of opioids on immune system PWH unknown. This study tested the hypothesis that chronic opioid use exacerbates known impairment flu vaccine responses PWH. Chronic users were compared to non-opioid HIV+ and HIV− groups termed HIV+OP+ (n=28), HIV-OP+ (n=55), HIV+OP− (n=53), HIV-OP− (controls, n=58). individuals ART plasma virus load <200 copies/mL. Flu antibody titers determined at pre- (T0) 4 weeks post (T2) seasonal quadrivalent influenza vaccinations (2020–2022) by hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) along a cytokine score T0. Vaccine response (VR) was defined as 4-fold change (FC) titer from T0 T2. In Kruskal Wallis analysis, all had increases HAI T2 (p<0.01 p<0.0001) for antigens (H1N1, H3N2, B Victoria) whole vaccine. status associated decreased OP+ higher than HIV+OP−, both T2/T0 FC one or more (p<0.05 p<0.001). regression analysis controlling demographics, increased H1N1 Yamagata antigens. random forest model, predicted probability VR lower status. Cytokine highest HIV+OP+. Results quantitative Ab refute our would be impaired who chronically opioids. HIV false positive results and Flu vaccination
Abstract False positive results are the major problem influencing interpretation of Clinical Laboratory test. They are originated mostly in the other diseases, technical errors and the recent vaccination. The problem has been presented since 1991 is positive HIV test after influenza Vaccination (1). The False positive has been reported in Cases using Eliza, one of The most common test to screen...
متن کاملVaccine-induced HIV seropositivity/reactivity in noninfected HIV vaccine recipients.
CONTEXT Induction of protective anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) immune responses is the goal of an HIV vaccine. However, this may cause a reactive result in routine HIV testing in the absence of HIV infection. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the frequency of vaccine-induced seropositivity/reactivity (VISP) in HIV vaccine trial participants. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS Three common US Fo...
متن کاملHeroin Use Is Associated with Suppressed Pro-Inflammatory Cytokine Response after LPS Exposure in HIV-Infected Individuals
BACKGROUND Opioid use is associated with increased incidence of infectious diseases. Although experimental studies have shown that opioids affect various functions of immune cells, only limited data are available from human studies. Drug use is an important risk factor for HIV transmission; however no data are available whether heroin and/or methadone modulate immune response. Therefore, we exa...
متن کاملUse of RT-Defective HIV Virions: New Tool to Evaluate Specific Response in Chronic Asymptomatic HIV-Infected Individuals
BACKGROUND Generation of new reagents that can be used to screen or monitor HIV-1-specific responses constituted an interesting field in the development of HIV vaccines to improve their efficacy. METHODS We have evaluated the specific T cell response against different types of NL4-3 virions (including NL4-3 aldrithiol-2 treated, NL4-3/ΔRT and R5 envelopes: NL4-3/ΔRT/ΔEnv[AC10] and NL4-3/ΔRT/Δ...
متن کاملProspective and Retrospective Memory Complaints in HIV-Infected Individuals
Background and purpose: Deficits of retrospective memory (RetM) and prospective memory (ProM), which are two primary components of episodic memory, have been reported in prior studies in HIV-infected individuals. The present study aimed to further elucidate the characteristics of prospective and retrospective memory complaints in HIV-infected individuals. Materials and Methods: We recruited 50...
