چکیده

Introduction. Between 20 - 60% of patients with chronic hepatitis C present elevated serum ferritin and iron, as well increased transferrin saturation, yet without a significant liver iron burden. The objective this article was to summarize current knowledge on interactions between virus infection metabolism. Case Report. A 34-year-old female patient positive for genotype 3, underwent therapy pegylated interferon/ribavirin. discontinued after four weeks due leukopenia, anemia significantly levels. Liver biopsy (Perl?s stain) revealed deposition predominantly in periportal hepatocytes. continued by direct-acting (sofosbuvir/antiviral/velpatasvir) drugs. During the course therapy, presented normal complete blood count, 150 ?g/l, ferremia at upper limit normal. Twelve end showed sustained virologic response. additional diagnostics hereditary hemochromatosis has been performed, therapeutic phlebotomy procedures were initiated. Conclusion. In diagnosis should be extended hemochromatosis.

Haplotype Analysis of Hemochromatosis Gene Polymorphisms in Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection: A Case Control Study

BACKGROUND Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is frequently associated with elevated serum iron markers. Polymorphisms in the hemochromatosis (HFE) genes are responsible for iron accumulation in most cases of hemochromatosis, and may play a role in HCV infection. OBJECTIVES We aimed to assess the prevalence of HFE gene polymorphisms in a group of Iranian HCV-infected patients, and to e...
