Chronic diseases among paramedics and their impact on mental health

Introduction Working in a care setting is characterised by an increased mental and physical load. During their professional life, personnel this sector can develop essentially degenerative pathologies, which could influence career as well psychological balance. Objectives We aimed to evaluate the impact of chronic pathologies on prevalence anxiety depression among group. Methods conducted cross-sectional study hospitals Sfax using self-administered questionnaire. This questionnaire evaluated socio-demographic, professional, clinical characteristics evaluation degree HAD Results Our population consisted 120 participants. The average age was 37 years, with female predominance (a sex ratio 0.69). found participants were mainly diabetes (18%), high blood pressure (4%), rheumatic disease (6.7%). score 8.18 ± 3.5 that 9.02 3.5. Certain depressive anxious signs 28.4% 23.6% participants, respectively. Although scores for higher subgroup (respectively, 9.8 versus 9.04 9.3 8.46), these differences not statistically significant (p > 0.05).
