Chitosan-Based Adhesive: Optimization of Tensile Shear Strength in Dry and Wet Conditions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Commercial adhesives present a high bond strength and water resistance, but they are considered non-healthier products. Chitosan can be as an interesting biosourced biodegradable alternative, despite its low resistance. Here, wood bonding implementation tensile shear in dry wet conditions were investigated depending on structural characteristics. Firstly, the spread rate, open assembly time, drying pressure, temperature, time have been determined for two chitosans of European pine double lap specimens. An adhesive solution rate 1000 g·m?2, 10 min, pressure temperature 55 °C 105 min led to 2.82 MPa. Secondly, comparison between molecular weight/low deacetylation degree chitosan lower weight/higher was conducted. Tests conducted with beech simple specimens accordance conditioning treatments environments required thermoplastic standards used non-structural applications (EN 204 EN 205). The results clearly revealed dependence properties resistance features (molecular weight degree), explaining heterogeneity published notably this field.

Comparative Evaluation of Shear Bond Strength of Three Dental Adhesives under Dry and Wet Bonding Conditions: An In Vitro Study

Background: The old concept of total-etch/dry bonding has been superseded by total-etch/wet bonding, and later on by the self-etch systems. Manufacturers have introduced single bottle systems to be used in total-etch, self-etch, or selective-etch modes under both dry and moist conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate shear bond strengths of three different dental adhesives under dry an...

Mechanical behavior of transparent nanofibrillar cellulose-chitosan nanocomposite films in dry and wet conditions.

Transparent, biocompatible and biodegradable chitosan (CS) nanocomposite films reinforced with nanofibrillar cellulose (NFC) were prepared by solution casting. The effects of NFC content on the mechanical properties in dry and wet conditions were investigated. The incorporation of NFC significantly enhanced the mechanical properties, especially in wet conditions. The ultimate tensile strength a...

Bond strength of adhesive systems with different solvents to dry and wet dentin.

AIM This study evaluates bond strength between dentin and composite using adhesives with different solvents to dry and wet dentin. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ninety bovine incisors were used; the vestibular surfaces were worn by the exposure of an area with a diameter of 4 mm of dentin. The specimens were divided into 6 groups, according to the type of adhesive used and hydratation stals: Group SB...

Evaluation of pH, ultimate tensile strength, and micro-shear bond strength of two self-adhesive resin cements.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the pH, ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and micro-shear bond strength (µSBS) of two self-adhesive resin cements to enamel and dentin. Sound bovine incisors (n = 10) and two self-adhesive resin cements (i.e., RelyX U-100 and seT PP) were used. The pH of the resin cements was measured using a pH-indicator paper (n = 3). Specimens for UTS were obtained from a...

Shear strength properties of wet granular materials.

We investigate shear strength properties of wet granular materials in the pendular state (i.e., the state where the liquid phase is discontinuous) as a function of water content. Sand and glass beads were wetted and tested in a direct shear cell and under various confining pressures. In parallel, we carried out three-dimensional molecular dynamics simulations by using an explicit equation expre...
