چکیده

China's Chang'e-5 (CE-5) mission, the first lunar sample return mission since 1976, landed at 43.06°N, 51.92°W on Dec. 1, 2020, in Northern Oceanus Procellarum. CE-5 targeted a mare plain (Em4/P58) composed of distinctive young (∼1.6-1.7 Ga) moderate-Ti basalts, with elevated Th abundance (inherent or extraneous). Thus, regolith and rock fragments sampled by come from some youngest basalts Moon, near Rima Sharp, center globally anomalous Procellarum KREEP Terrane (PKT), hypothesized to be responsible for generation volcanism. To provide context analysis interpretation returned samples in-situ measurements substructure penetrating radar, we constructed detailed geologic map stratigraphic assessment site. The stratigraphy consists ancient highland materials (PKT crust ejecta Iridum Imbrium basins), local silica-rich volcanism, overlain sequence capped Em4/P58. A ∼4-7 m thick layer developed post-mare bombardment overlies Em4/P58 protolith contains admixed impact distant sources, mainly Harpalus (∼6 wt.%), followed Copernicus (∼2 wt.%) Aristarchus (∼1 wt.%). New crater size-frequency necessary spatial density reference calibration cratering chronology radiometric ages samples. geological provenance indicate that will address fundamental questions chronology, thermal evolution, basalt petrogenesis, nature PKT, as well key planetary chronologies remote sensing data.

Introduction. The NASA Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Project is considering a landing-site ellipse designated EP78B2 in southeastern Utopia Planitia, southwest of Elysium Mons. This ellipse is centered at 11.73N, 123.96E (planetocentric coordinates) and is 155 km long and 16 km wide, has its major axis oriented N86W, and covers ~1640 km 2. The site appears to be relatively safe for a MER landing...

REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND ROCK DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE MARS PHOENIX LANDING SITE. T. Heet

Introduction: In May 2008 the Phoenix Lander descended into the north polar region of Mars. It landed at 68.22 N, 234.25 E in a shallow valley about 20 km west of a 10 km crater named Heimdall. Phoenix imaged local geomorphology, determined local ice table depth and analyzed 19 soil samples from within a ~15 m 2 work volume. Important to
