Childhood Trauma increases suicidal behaviour in a treatment-resistant depression population: a FACE-DR report

In addition to heredity, exposure early-life adversity is an important predisposing risk factor of suicidal behaviour. Although the association between Childhood Trauma (CT) and suicide well documented, interactions CT behaviour in Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) populations have received little coverage. This study aimed evaluate i) a TRD population, ii) role personality traits impulsiveness as potential factors mediation these associations. Patients were recruited from cohort French network expert centers. Depressive symptom severity, CT, behaviour, traits, assessed with Montgomery-Åsberg Rating Scale (MADRS), Questionnaire (CTQ), Columbia Suicide Severity (CSSRS), Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV, Big Five Inventory, Barratt Impulsivness (BIS) respectively. Among 256 patients baseline CTQ, relation current depressive episode, we found total CTQ scores mediated by intensity episode model adjusted age sex (total effect: ? = 0.171; p 0.011, direct 0.135; 0.043; indirect 0.036; 0.048). Focusing on subtypes, detected physical neglect (? 0.301; 0.002), without any episode. There was no effect nor impulsiveness. With regards CSSRS assess ideation, did not find score subtype scores. We report strong (in particular childhood neglect) population.
