Characterization of the Resistance to Powdery Mildew and Leaf Rust Carried by the Bread Wheat Cultivar Victo
نویسندگان
چکیده
Leaf rust and powdery mildew are two important foliar diseases in wheat. A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, obtained by crossing bread wheat cultivars (‘Victo’ ‘Spada’), was evaluated for resistance to the pathogens at seedling stage. Upon developing a genetic map of 8726 SNP loci, linkage analysis identified three Quantitative Trait Loci (QTLs), with ‘Victo’ contributing resistant alleles all loci. One major QTL (QPm.gb-7A) detected response Blumeria graminis on chromosome 7A, which explained 90% phenotypic variation (PV). The co-positional relationship known (Pm) loci suggested that new source T. aestivum. Two QTLs were Puccinia triticina: gene 5D (QLr.gb-5D), explaining total PV about 59%, minor 2B (QLr.gb-2B). positional observed between QLr.gb-5D Lr1 gene, but polymorphisms found cloned corresponding allele, suggesting could represent functional allele. Lastly, upon anchoring aestivum reference genome, candidate genes hypothesized basis annotation silico expression analysis.

Simultaneous Transfer of Leaf Rust and Powdery Mildew Resistance Genes from Hexaploid Triticale Cultivar Sorento into Bread Wheat
Wheat powdery mildew, caused by Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici, and wheat leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks, are two important diseases that severely threaten wheat production. Sorento, a hexaploid triticale cultivar from Poland, shows high resistance to the wheat powdery mildew isolate E09 and the leaf rust isolate PHT in Beijing, China. To introduce resistance genes into common ...
متن کاملIdentification and evaluation of resistance to powdery mildew and yellow rust in a wheat mapping population
Deployment of cultivars with genetic resistance is an effective approach to control the diseases of powdery mildew (PM) and yellow rust (YR). Chinese wheat cultivar XK0106 exhibits high levels of resistance to both diseases, while cultivar E07901 has partial, adult plant resistance (APR). The aim of this study was to map resistance loci derived from the two cultivars and analyze their effects a...
متن کاملAllelic series of four powdery mildew resistance genes at the Pm3 locus in hexaploid bread wheat.
At the Pm3 locus in hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum), 10 alleles conferring race-specific resistance to powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici) are known. A cluster of genes encoding coiled-coil-nucleotide-binding site-leucine-rich repeat proteins spans the Pm3 locus on wheat chromosome 1A, and one member of this gene family has recently been identified as the Pm3b resistance gene....
متن کاملmlo‐based powdery mildew resistance in hexaploid bread wheat generated by a non‐transgenic TILLING approach
Wheat is one of the most widely grown cereal crops in the world and is an important food grain source for humans. However, wheat yields can be reduced by many abiotic and biotic stress factors, including powdery mildew disease caused by Blumeria graminis f.sp. tritici (Bgt). Generating resistant varieties is thus a major effort in plant breeding. Here, we took advantage of the non-transgenic Ta...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization of a New Wheat-Thinopyrum intermedium Translocation Line with Resistance to Powdery Mildew and Stripe Rust
A new wheat-Thinopyrum translocation line CH13-21 was selected from the progenies derived from a cross between wheat-Th. intermedium partial amphiploid TAI7047 and wheat line Mianyang11. CH13-21 was characterized by using genomic in situ hybridization (GISH), multicolor-GISH (mc-GISH), multicolor-fluorescence in situ hybridization (mc-FISH) and chromosome-specific molecular markers. When inocul...
