چکیده
The present investigations were carried out to screen the PGPR isolates from five separate seasonal flower beds (Catharanthus roseus, Portulaca grandiflora, Celosia argentea, Gomphrena globosa and Impatiens balsamina) of Curzon Hall, University Dhaka. bacterial load collected soil samples ranged in between 7.60 ± 6.01 × 106 9.49 5.44× 108 cfu/g, 5.34 4.06×106 13.4 4.8×106 cfu/g 1.01 0.59×106 1.19 0.95×108 on Nutrient Agar (NA), Luria-Bertani (LB) Yeast Extract Mannitol (YEMA), respectively. All selected eight Gram positive rod shaped. found be IAA producer 7 showed varying levels phosphate solubilizing activity. production (P) solubilization 9.76 5.98 17.99 1.865 U/ml, 1.17 0.59 1.84 0.499 mg/l. Maximum both was achieved 24h incubation period at 37°C pH 7.0. Germination test against Mung Bean (Vigna radiata) revealed plant growth promoting activities could used as inoculant. Dhaka Univ. J. Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria: A Critical Review
Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are naturally occurring soil bacteria that aggressively colonize plant roots and benefit plants by providing growth promotion. Inoculation of crop plants with certain strains of PGPR at an early stage of development improves biomass production through direct effects on root and shoots growth. Inoculation of ornamentals, forest trees, vegetables, and a...
متن کاملCharacterization of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria associated with chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)
Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are known to influence plant growth by various direct or indirect mechanisms. In search of efficient PGPR strains with multiple activities, a total of 150 bacterial isolates belonging to Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Azotobacter and Rhizobium were isolated from different rhizospheric soil of chick pea in the vicinity of Allahabad. These test isolates were bi...
متن کاملPlant growth promoting Rhizobacteria: An overview
Numerous species of soil bacteria which flourish in the rhizosphere of plants, but which may grow in, on, or around plant tissues, stimulate plant growth by a plethora of mechanisms. These bacteria are collectively known as PGPR (plant growth promoting rhizobacteria).Of the microorganisms that parasitize on nematodes and reduce nematode populations by antagonistic behaviour, bacteria hold an im...

متن کاملPlant growth promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR): a review
Soil microbial communities are often difficult to characterize, mainly because of their immense phenotypic and genotypic diversity. In the last ten years, a number of PGPR that have been identified has seen a great boost, mainly because the role of the rhizosphere as an ecological unit has gained importance in the functioning of the biosphere and also because mechanisms of action of PGPR have b...
