Characterization of a 2.5 MV inline portal imaging beam

A new megavoltage (MV) energy was recently introduced on Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators for imaging applications. This work describes the experimental characterization of a 2.5 MV inline portal imaging beam for commissioning, routine clinical use, and quality assurance purposes. The beam quality of the 2.5 MV beam was determined by measuring a percent depth dose, PDD, in water phantom for ...

Beam Characterization of 10-MV Photon Beam from Medical Linear Accelerator without Flattening Filter

AIM This work investigated the dosimetric properties of a 10-MV photon beam emitted from a medical linear accelerator (linac) with no flattening filter (FF). The aim of this study is to analyze the radiation fluence and energy emitted from the flattening filter free (FFF) linac using Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. MATERIALS AND METHODS The FFF linac was created by removing the FF from a linac ...

Characterization and evaluation of 2.5 MV electronic portal imaging for accurate localization of intra‐ and extracranial stereotactic radiosurgery

2.5 MV electronic portal imaging, available on Varian TrueBeam machines, was characterized using various phantoms in this study. Its low-contrast detectability, spatial resolution, and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were compared with those of conventional 6 MV and kV planar imaging. Scatter effect in large patient body was simulated by adding solid water slabs along the beam path. The 2.5 MV im...

A new approach to characterization of MV-algebras

By considering the notion of MV-algebras, we recall some results on enumeration of MV-algebras and wecarry out a study on characterization of MV-algebras of orders $2$, $3$, $4$, $5$, $6$ and $7$. We obtain that there is one non-isomorphic MV-algebra of orders $2$, $3$, $5$ and $7$ and two non-isomorphic MV-algebras of orders $4$ and $6$.

Pretreatment quality control of single isocenter half- beam treatment planning technique using an amorphous silicon electronic portal-imaging device (EPID)

Introduction: Electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) are fundamentally used for instantaneous verification of the patient set‐up, block shape, and leaf positions during radiation therapy. In radiotherapy, situations arise in which an inclined PTV must be treated mutually with adjacent nodal regions. This methodology is most widely used for matching tangential/lateral breas...
