چکیده
A radio frequency (rf) plasma source is operated at 2 MHz under an expanding magnetic field. The consists of a 14-cm-diameter and 25-cm-long tube wound by seven-turn rf loop antenna powered via impedance matching circuit. efficient power transfer to the demonstrated, high-density above 1012 cm−3 successfully obtained for kW level power. radial density profile having center peak observed both in field; it does not show conical structure previously 13.56 sources. This implies that electron heating layer changed lowering driving frequency. Even MHz, measurement ion energy distribution shows presence supersonic beam as well sources higher frequencies, e.g., previous studies.

Laboratory experiments demonstrate high-speed plasma flows from both footpoints of arched magnetic flux tubes, resulting in bulk plasma transport into the flux tube and persistent axial collimation even as the flux tube lengthens and kinks. The measured flows are in agreement with the predictions of hoop force and collimation models involving fundamental MHD forces. These forces are expected to...
متن کاملEffects of the Magnetic Fields on Ion Beam Energy in a Magnetically Expanding Plasma
Effects of the magnetic-field configuration on electrostatic ion acceleration in a magnetically expanding plasma source are experimentally investigated, where an expanding plasma machine with two solenoid coils is manufactured. The field configurations can be changed by adjusting the solenoid currents. The 13.56 MHz radiofrequency power for plasma production and the argon gas pressure are maint...

متن کاملCharacterization of a Waveguide ECR Plasma Source
The design and preliminary testing of a waveguide electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) heated plasma source is presented in this paper. The design utilizes resonant absorption of traveling microwaves to heat the discharge, avoiding any lifetime constraints on the device due to barium depletion or ion bombardment in more conventional devices. Results from magnetostatic calculations are presented, ...
