Characteristics of Middle European Holiday Highfliers

This article estimates a count-data model on the flight behaviour of Austrian holiday-makers based information from large representative quarterly survey spanning years 2014–2016. On average, number holiday flights ranges between 0.6 and 1.2 per year for residents in least populated region capital, respectively. Results estimations reveal that is highest persons with tertiary degrees, young age (16–24 years) capital city residents, while it lowest individuals children households. Residents fly 78 percent more often given quarter than those living Carinthia, most rural region. The Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition analysis reveals difference rather related to location variations individual characteristics. Socio-demographic aspects such as age, household size travelling are no relevance flying residents.
