Characteristics of Anal Sphincter Electromyography in Patients with Multiple System Atrophy

In this study, the characteristics of external anal sphincter electromyography (EAS-EMG) in patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA) were analyzed, and its value diagnosis MSA was discussed. The data 23 who underwent EAS-EMG examination between January 2019 December 2021 selected to analyze such as average duration motor unit potentials (MUPs), amplitude, satellite potentials, percentage polyphasic waves, explore correlation results autonomic dysfunction based on their characteristics. analysis showed that most common symptoms urination defecation disorders, sleep unsteady walking, signs increased muscle tone, postural hypotension, ataxia, rectal bladder dysfunction, orthostatic sexual dysfunction. MUPs 11.6 (10.1-13.9) ms, amplitude 885 (683-1198) μV, waves 26.2 (12.5-50.0)%. Patients had longer disease duration. There no significant differences parameters different types suggested abnormal changes may indicate an impaired function MSA, conclusion not limit disorders.
