Synchrotron FTIR characterisation of automotive primer surfacer paint coatings for forensic purposes.
Synchrotron FTIR microspectroscopy was used to characterise and assess the chemical diversity of electrocoat primer, primer surfacer and basecoats of automotive paint samples from 75 vehicles representing a range of international car manufacturers. Significant diversity was found in the synchrotron FTIR data from the primer surfacer coats. Classification using principal component analysis revea...
متن کاملHighly resolved chemical imaging of living cells by using synchrotron infrared microspectrometry.
Using synchrotron radiation as an ultra-bright infrared source, we have been able to map the distributions of functional groups such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids inside a single living cell with a spatial resolution of a few microns. In particular, we have mapped the changes in the lipid and protein distributions in both the final stages of cell division and also during necrosis.
متن کاملAutomotive Spray Paint Simulation
A system is introduced for the simulation of spray painting. Head mounted display goggles are combined with a tracking system to allow users to paint a virtual surface with a spray gun. Ray tracing is used to simulate droplets landing on the surface of the object, allowing arbitrary shapes and spray gun patterns to be used. This system is combined with previous research on spray gun characteris...
متن کاملPaint Curing By Infrared Catalytic Thermoreactors
The standard method of curing industrial coatings has been accomplished by slow open air drying or somewhat faster gas heated convection air ovens. Electric infrared has also been used for curing paints for certain applications. While enhancing the rate of cure, the energy costs become excessive to operate. The introduction of gas fueled infrared catalytic thermoreactors is changing the way ind...
متن کاملChemical Imaging on Liver Steatosis Using Synchrotron Infrared and ToF-SIMS Microspectroscopies
Fatty liver or steatosis is a frequent histopathological change. It is a precursor for steatohepatitis that may progress to cirrhosis and in some cases to hepatocellular carcinoma. In this study we addressed the in situ composition and distribution of biochemical compounds on tissue sections of steatotic liver using both synchrotron FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) and ToF-SIMS (time of flight...
