چکیده
Abstract In this study, the composition of tars collected during a six-day underground coal gasification (UCG) test at experimental mine ‘Barbara’ in Poland 2013 was examined. During test, tar samples were taken every day from liquid product separator and analysed by methods used for testing properties typical coke oven (coal) tar. The obtained results compared with each other data As progressed, decreasing trend water content an increasing ash observed. tested characterized large changes residue after coking parts insoluble toluene smaller fluctuations quinoline. All very high distillation losses, while starting third gasification, clear decrease losses visible. A chromatographic analysis showed that there no major differences between none had dominant component such as naphthalene polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) UCG is several times lower than No light monoaromatic (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene xylenes—BTEX) found tars, which fact these compounds, due to their volatility, did not separate process gas separator.

This work presents the UCGVision system designed for underground coal gasification process visualization, prediction, and monitoring. The possibility to visualize the ongoing reactions during the process is crucial for better insight into the process itself. Moreover, the system task is to give researchers and in the future process supervisor a tool to observe the current state of the process b...
متن کاملEarly Ideas in Underground Coal Gasification and Their Evolution
This article follows the development of early UCG (underground coal gasification) ideas. Historical facts are discussed mainly from the technological perspective and early experiments in UCG are analyzed. Our search for the first successful UCG experiment brings to light a new finding, which was commonly overlooked in previous reviews. We also outline the key role that engineer and inventor A. ...
متن کاملUnderground Coal Gasification: A Brief Review of Current Status
Coal gasification is a promising option for the future use of coal. Similarly to gasification in industrial reactors, underground coal gasification (UCG) produces syngas, which can be used for power generation or for the production of liquid hydrocarbon fuels and other valuable chemical products. As compared with conventional mining and surface gasification, UCG promises lower capital/operating...

Enormous progress has been made in coal pyrolysis research during the last decade. Models of coal devolatilization have progressed from simple rate expressions based on total mass release's to empirical relationships based on the elemental composition of the parent coal3 to models that attempt to describe the macromolecular network of the ~ o a l . ~ ~ Measurements of particle temperature durin...
متن کاملa study of underground coal gasification (ucg) wastewater and sludge
underground coal gasification (ucg) is a non-conventional method of extracting gas from coal. the primary advantage of ucg is that it recovers gas from uneconomical or unminable coal, potentially increasing the value of the world’s coal reserves by an estimated 70%; for this reason, ucg has been implemented at sites around the world. however, the gaseous, liquid and solid waste streams which ac...
