چکیده

Abstract Estimates of observed long-term changes in daily precipitation globally have been limited due to availability high-quality observations. In this study, a new gridded dataset precipitation, called Rainfall on Gridded Network (REGEN) V1–2019, was used perform an assessment the climatic at each global land location (except Antarctica). This study investigates number wet days (?1 mm) and entire distribution wet- all-day records, addition trends annual seasonal totals from between 1950 2016. The main finding is that has intensified across majority areas throughout wet-day distribution. means when it rains, light, moderate, or heavy become more intense most globe. Changes in Global Monsoon Circulations Since 1950

We examined changes in several independent intensity indices of four major tropical monsoonal circulations for the period 1950–1998. These intensity indices included observed land surface precipitation and observed ocean surface pressure in the monsoon regions as well as upperlevel divergence calculated at several standard levels from the NCAR/NCEP reanalysis. These values were averaged seasona...

Surface Observed Global Land Precipitation Variations during 1900–88

The authors have analyzed global station data and created a gridded dataset of monthly precipitation for the period of 1900–88. Statistical analyses suggest that discontinuities associated with instrumental errors are large for many high-latitude station records, although they are unlikely to be significant for the majority of the stations. The first leading EOF in global precipitation fields i...

Recent observed and simulated changes in precipitation over Africa

Multiple observational data sets and atmosphere-only simulations from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 are analyzed to characterize recent rainfall variability and trends over Africa focusing on 1983–2010. Data sets exhibiting spurious variability, linked in part to a reduction in rain gauge density, were identified. The remaining observations display coherent increases in annu...

Changes in the variability of global land precipitation

[1] In our warming climate there is a general expectation that the variability of precipitation (P) will increase at daily, monthly and inter-annual timescales. Here we analyse observations of monthly P (1940–2009) over the global land surface using a new theoretical framework that can distinguish changes in global P variance between space and time. We report a near-zero temporal trend in globa...

Improved Reconstruction of Global Precipitation since 1900

An improved land–ocean global monthly precipitation anomaly reconstruction is developed for the period beginning in 1900. Reconstructions use the available historical data and statistics developed from the modern satellite-sampled period to analyze variations over the historical presatellite period. This paper documents the latest in a series of precipitation reconstructions developed by the au...
