Challenges of Hydrodynamic Cavitation of Organic Wastes

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) as a pre-treatment method for selected organic wastes. In these HC experiments, municipal wastewater (MW) and mature landfill leachate (MLL) well mixtures lignocellulosic waste (LB) suspended in streams were investigated. For all tests, same operational parameters assumed: an inlet pressure 7 bar, 30 recirculations through zone. A steel orifice plate with conical concentric hole 3/10 mm used inductor. almost materials analysed, solubilisation decomposition complex matter observed, which confirmed by improved biodegradability index (BI) soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) content cavitated mixtures. exception series sole MW; case, BI reduced. turn, regarding multicomponent mixtures, more beneficial results found LB MW, BI, alkalinity SCOD content. obtained indicate that might be applied wastes further biomethane production. However, key factor its successful application is selection suitable conditions chosen individually each type.
