چکیده
Low-carbon operation technologies of the blast furnace (BF) are crucial for reducing carbon dioxide emissions from steelmaking industry. The variation characteristic permeability and structure in a BF lumpy zone has critical impact on achieving low-carbon operations. Still, their influences have not been fully understood, related studies very limited. To solve problem deteriorating furnaces after lowering coke ratio, this study aims to provide insights into pressure drop an ironmaking based computational fluid dynamics coupled with discrete element method (CFD-DEM) model. systematically investigates influence different packing configurations using heterogeneous alternating-layer (HAL) packed bed. After model was validated by comparing simulation’s results ones calculated Ergun equation, it used investigate effects number layers, coke-mixing nut replacement particle-size ratio structure, void fraction variation, HAL reveal effect these factors zone, providing fundamental guidance towards operations BFs.

CFD-DEM Investigation on van der Waals Force in Gas-Solid Bubbling Fluidized Beds
Effect of interparticle force on the hydrodynamics of gas-solid fluidized beds was investigated using the combined method of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM). The cohesive force between particles was considered to follow the van der Waals equation form. The model was validated by experimental results from literature in terms of bed voidage distribution and Eule...

Parallel Open Source Cfd-dem for Resolved Particle-fluid Interaction
In the following paper we present a parallelized resolved method for the simulation of the dynamics of immersed bodies within fluids. The algorithm uses the so called Fictitious Domain Method (FDM) and combines the Lagrangian Discrete Element Method (DEM) for the tracking of the bodies and a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method for the calculation of the flow and pressure field of the flui...
متن کاملLow pressure adsorption of CO2 on multi-wall carbon nanotubes
Volumetric techniques were employed to study the adsorption of CO2 on a purified multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT’s) sample, as a mesoporous material, at isothermal conditions of 288, 293 and 298 K and pressures ranging from 30 to 150 kPa. Langmuir, Freundlich and Sips equations were used to represent the isotherms. Also the parameters of these fitted isotherm models have been determined. The ...
متن کاملCFD Simulation of Dry and Wet Pressure Drops and Flow Pattern in Catalytic Structured Packings
Type of packings and characteristics of their geometry can affect the flow behavior in the reactive distillation columns. KATAPAK SP is one the newest modular catalytic structured packings (MCSP) that has been used in the reactive distillation columns, recently. However, there is not any study on the hydrodynamics of this packing by using computational fluid dynamics. In the present work, a 3D ...
