چکیده
Abstract Due to adverse effects of free radicals on human skin and increasing consumer demand for natural ingredients, essential oils from basil, Ceylon cinnamon bark, clove, juniper, lavender, oregano, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, ylang-ylang were assessed their antiradical activity. The evaluated in the concentration range 5—0.1 mg·mL −1 , which three reference synthetic antioxidants are most often added mass-produced cosmetics. Among all examined samples, C. oil at a 5 showed strongest DPPH radical scavenging activity (0.41 IC50), followed by clove oil, BHA, α-tocopherol, BHT (0.82, 0.84, 0.88 0.93 respectively. At same concentration, reduction power was higher (1.64 Trolox Eq.) than that α-tocopherol (1.42 0.80 mmol·L Eq., respectively) but lower BHA (1.81 mmol·L–1 Eq.). Antiradical other eight low or negligible. promising agents care according our GC-MS analysis, these contain 0.29 % cinnamaldehyde, 0.03 linalool, 0.02 D-limonene, eugenol 0.41 0.002 respectively, monitored contact allergens Such product is not be suitable consumers allergic substances vast majority it does pose risk terms manifestations.

Antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities of essential oils.
INTRODUCTION Reactive oxygen and nitrogen free radicals are produced during immune activity, and are triggered by several environmental factors such as pollution, smoke, and sunlight. Harmful effects of these reactive species include cellular damage to RNA, DNA, proteins and lipids. In humans several diseases including those connected with the heart, lung, and the eye are associated with the ac...

Essential oils (EOs) derived from plants are rich sources of volatile terpenoids and phenolic compounds. Such compounds have the potential to inactivate pathogenic bacteria on contact and in the vapor phase. Edible films made from fruits or vegetables containing EOs can be used commercially to protect food against contamination by pathogenic bacteria. EOs from cinnamon, allspice, and clove bud ...
