Modified transmanubrial osteomuscular sparing approach for resection of T1 vertebral tumor.
We report a technical modification of the classic transmanubrial osteomuscular sparing approach described by Grünenwald and Spaggiari for the treatment of a T1 vertebral tumor. The goal of the surgical treatment for spinal tumors of the cervico-thoracic area is to excise the vertebral tumor, reconstruct the spinal column, and place an internal fixation device to achieve immediate stabilization....
متن کاملA Resection of the Giant First Left Rib Tumor and Chest Wall Reconstruction by Transmanubrial Osteomuscular Sparing Approach
A 64-year-old female had noticed an 11 × 6 cm mass growing on her left first rib. We performed a resection of the first and second ribs and a reconstruction of the chest wall. A thoracotomy was performed at the anterolateral second intercostal space. The second rib cartilage was divided at the left parasternum. Based on a transmanubrial osteomuscular sparing approach, the left-upper part of the...

Twelve patients with cervico-thoracic tumors underwent transmanubrial approach during a 1-year period. All but two patients with NSCLC (n 8), had double approaches. Three cases with cervical esophageal cancer underwent TMA and laparotomy. The last patient underwent TMA for cervical ®brosarcoma. One patient underwent subclavian artery resection, while another one resection of the left brachice...
متن کاملTransmanubrial approach with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for left superior sulcus tumour with dense adhesion after replacement of descending thoracic aorta.
There are various surgical approaches to superior sulcus tumours according to the location of the tumour. The chief difficulties in the operation are broadening of the operative field and adhesiolysis. This study presents the case of surgical treatment of superior sulcus tumour following chemoradiation therapy with dense pleural adhesion due to a history of graft replacement of the descending t...
متن کاملHuge cervico-thoracic thymic cyst.
We present a case of a 6 year-old boy who presented with a huge mass in the right side of the neck and changes its size with respiration and with straining. Computed tomography of the chest and neck showed a huge mass that was thought to be cystic hygroma. It was excised by both median sternotomy and a right cervical incision. Pathology revealed a thymic cyst.
