Cerebrovascular Function in Hormonal Migraine: An Exploratory Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Migraineurs, particularly young premenopausal women, are at increased risk of cerebrovascular disease; however, there is currently limited evidence as to whether hormonal migraine associated with poor function. Objectives: The objectives this study were to: (1) investigate the potential association function and (2) determine abnormalities in migraineurs migraine-related disability and/or quality life. Method: A cross-sectional was undertaken 50 (mean age: 38.7 ± 1.2 years) 29 controls 35.6 1.8 years). Data collected a single point time from all participants during inter-ictal period when they free not menstruating. Transcranial Doppler ultrasound used measure resting blood flow velocity responsiveness (CVR) hypercapnia cognitive stimulation (neurovascular coupling) left right middle cerebral artery (MCA). Additionally, completed three questionnaires assess life well frequency intensity: Headache Impact Test-6™, Migraine-Specific Quality Life Migraine Disability Assessment. Results: Hormonal had lower mean (MBFV) ( P = 0.009) neurovascular coupling 0.010) MCA than controls. متن کاملSelf-regulation of slow cortical potentials in children with migraine: an exploratory study.
Migraine patients are characterized by increased amplitudes of slow cortical potentials (SCPs), representing pronounced excitability of cortical networks. The present study investigated the efficiency of biofeedback training of SCPs in young migraineurs. Ten children suffering from migraine without aura participated in 10 feedback sessions. They were compared with 10 healthy children for regula...
متن کامل[Migraine as a cerebrovascular risk factor].
INTRODUCTION Migraine has become an important vascular risk factor during the past few years, along with the presence of white matter and clinically silent ischaemic lesions. Whether these findings contribute to the migraine becoming chronic has been a source of debate. People with chronic migraine also have a less favourable metabolic profile. An exhaustive review of the literature has been ma...
متن کاملPrenatal Cardiac Function and Postnatal Cognitive Development: An Exploratory Study
Fetal cardiac function was measured at 24, 30, and 36 weeks gestation and quantified in terms of heart rate, variability, and episodic accelerations. Children’s representational capacity was evaluated at 27 months in terms of language and play. Thirtyand 36-week-old fetuses that displayed greater heart-rate variability and more episodic accelerations, and fetuses that exhibited a more precipito...
