Asymptotic Linearity of Serial and Nonserial Multivariate Signed Rank Statistics

Asymptotic linearity plays a key role in estimation and testing in the presence of nuisance parameters. This property is established, in the very general context of a multivariate general linear model with elliptical VARMA errors, for the serial and nonserial multivariate rank statistics considered in Hallin and Paindaveine (2002a and b, 2004a) and Oja and Paindaveine (2004). These statistics, ...

Insertion of a gamma-continuous function

A necessary and sufficient condition in terms of lower cut sets are given for the insertion of a $gamma-$continuous function between two comparable real-valued functions.

A New Method for Generating Continuous Bivariate Distribution Families

Recently, it has been observed that a new method for generating continuous distributions, T - X family, can be quite effectively used to analyze the data in one dimension. The aim of this study is to generalize this method to two dimensional space so that the marginals would have T - X distributions. So, several examples and properties of this family have been presented. As ...

Motzkin Numbers of Higher Rank: Generating Function and Explicit Expression

The classical Motzkin numbers (A001006 in [1]) count the numbers of Motzkin paths (and are also related to many other combinatorial objects, see Stanley [2]). Let us recall the definition of Motzkin paths. We consider in the Cartesian plane Z × Z those lattice paths starting from (0, 0) that use the steps {U,L,D}, where U = (1, 1) is an up-step, L = (1, 0) a level-step and D = (1,−1) a down-ste...

A Mthod for Generating the Turbulent Intermittency Function

A detection method based on sensitization of a squared double differentiated signal is developed which discriminates the turbulent zones from laminar zones quite accurately. The procedure adopts a variable threshold and a variable hold time of the order of the Kolmogorov time scale. The output file so generated, includes all the information for further analysis of the turbulent signal.
