Cenomanian-Early Campanian Carbonate Reservoir Rocks of Northwestern Iraq: Diagenesis and Porosity Development

چکیده

The present work focuses on the upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian-early Campanian) carbonate successions in selected wells from northwestern Iraq. These are represented by Gir Bir Turonian), Wajna (late Santonian) and Mushorah (early Formations. succession has affected early burial near-surface, unconformity-related deep diagenesis cementation, neomorphism, dolomitization, dedolomitization, silicification, authigenesis of glauconite pyrite, compaction, micritization, solution porosity formation. common types intergranular, fenestral, intercrystalline, moldic, vuggy, channel fracture. Three zones (I, II, III) identified depending variation gamma ray which reflects their shale content. part zone (II) is highly porous regarded main reservoir unit middle parts Formation. Fracture moldic vuggy dissolution features addition to karstic fissure responsible for increase fractured unit.

Tectonical history of Arabian platform during Late Cretaceous An example from Kurdistan region, NE Iraq

New simplified tectonic models and depositional history of Late Cretaceous rocks are established in a part of Zagros Orogenic Belt that is located in the Northeastern Iraq. These rocks constutes the most important Cretaceous oil reservoir in the Middle East. The dependent tools are petrography, field study and the concept of drowning phases. This concept is relatively new and accurate in explan...

The Late Cenomanian-Coniacian Gattar and Aleg reservoirs in Sidi Bouzid area, Central Tunisia: Logging, diagenesis and reservoir implications

At the Sidi Bouzid area located in Central Tunisia, Cenomanian-Turonian reservoir rocks are well outcropping, especially in the Jebel el Kébar and Meloussi areas. The present work confirms that these carbonate intervals constitute the lateral equivalent of the Early-Middle Turonian Biréno and Late Turonian-Coniacian Douleb reservoir Members which are included within the pelagic marls of the Tur...
