Cell adhesion in renal tubular epithelial cells: Biochemistry, biophysics or both

نویسندگان

چکیده

Changes in cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion markers are increasingly used to characterize disease onset progression. However, these relationships depend on both the biochemical molecular association between cells their extracellular matrix, as well biophysical mechanical properties orchestrated by cytoskeletal, membrane matrix components. To fully appreciate role of cell when determining normal physiology impact cellular function, it is important consider attributes system being investigated. In this short viewpoint we reflect our experiences assessing and/or cell-matrix interactions renal tubular epithelial cells.

Tangeretin protects renal tubular epithelial cells against experimental cisplatin toxicity

Objective(s): Cisplatin is an effective antineoplastic agent; its clinical utility, however, is limited by a few salient toxic side effects like nephrotoxicity. This study aimed to determine the potential protective effects of tangeretin, a citrus-derived flavonoid, against renal tubular cell injury in cisplatin-induced renal toxicity of rats.Materials and Methods: Tangeretin was injected intra...

Hypoxia-reoxygenation induced necroptosis in cultured rat renal tubular epithelial cell line

Objective(s): The aim of this study is to explore the potential role of hypoxia/reoxygenation in necroptosis in cultured rat renal tubular epithelial cell line NRK-52E, and further to investigate its possible mechanisms.Materials and Methods: Cells were cultured under different hypoxia-reoxygenation conditions                        in vitro. MTT assay was used to measure the cell proliferation...

Pathogenic interactions between Helicobacter pylori adhesion protein HopQ and human cell surface adhesion molecules CEACAMs in gastric epithelial cells

Objective(s): The present paper aims to review the studies describing the interactions between HopQ and CEACAMs along with possible mechanisms responsible for pathogenicity of Helicobacter pylori.Materials and Methods: The literature was searched on “PubMed” using different key words including Helicobacter pylori, CEACAM and gastric.<br ...

HGF promotes adhesion of ATP-depleted renal tubular epithelial cells in a MAPK-dependent manner.

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) has been shown to enhance recovery from renal tubular ischemia. We investigated the possibility that HGF improves recovery by preventing ischemia-induced loss of cell adhesion. Murine inner medullary collecting duct-3 (mIMCD-3) cells subjected to 90% ATP depletion demonstrated a 55% decrease in adhesion, an effect that was completely reversed by the addition of HG...

AM251 Suppresses Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition of Renal Tubular Epithelial Cells

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells is one of the causative mechanisms of kidney fibrosis. In our study, we screened lipophilic compounds using a lipid library including approximately 200 lipids to identify those that suppressed EMT induced by a transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 stimulus. Initial screening was performed with the immortalized HK-2 renal tu...
