Causes and Consequences of Lung Cancer Heterogeneity

چکیده
Lung cancer is the foremost cause of related deaths in U.S. The relatively poor outcome lung patients stems from fact that tumor not considered context its microenvironment while treating patients. a heterogeneous disease composed genetically and phenotypically different cells as well constantly interact with each other. Currently, treatment guided by genetic alterations identified specimen, which representative whole tumor. Genome wide studies patient derived tumors suggest presence significantly high numbers single Epigenetic variations, such DNA methylation, histone modifications microRNAs, have also been suggested to play role heterogeneity. Such cellular variations lead differential interactions between therefore evolving. In order gain better understanding progression design effective strategies, studying becomes very important.

متن کاملOccupational and environmental causes of lung cancer.
Because tobacco smoking is a potent carcinogen, secondary causes of lung cancer are often diminished in perceived importance. The goal of this review is to describe the occurrence and recent findings of the 27 agents currently listed by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as lung carcinogens. The IARC's updated assessments of lung carcinogens provide a long-overdue resource f...
متن کاملTransposable Elements in Human Cancer: Causes and Consequences of Deregulation
Transposable elements (TEs) comprise nearly half of the human genome and play an essential role in the maintenance of genomic stability, chromosomal architecture, and transcriptional regulation. TEs are repetitive sequences consisting of RNA transposons, DNA transposons, and endogenous retroviruses that can invade the human genome with a substantial contribution in human evolution and genomic d...
متن کاملCauses and consequences of centrosome abnormalities in cancer.
Centrosome amplification is a hallmark of cancer. However, despite significant progress in recent years, we are still far from understanding how centrosome amplification affects tumorigenesis. Boveri's hypothesis formulated more than 100 years ago was that aneuploidy induced by centrosome amplification promoted tumorigenesis. Although the hypothesis remains appealing 100 years later, it is also...
