چکیده
Introduction Approximately half of individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may meet criteria for other psychiatric disorders, and PTSD symptoms are associated diminished health psychosocial functioning. However, few studies examine the longitudinal progression concurrent related symptom domains functional outcomes, such that neglect important patterns beyond specifically. Methods Therefore, we used causal discovery analysis to interrelations among symptoms, depressive substance abuse, various functioning in five cohorts representing veterans ( n = 241), civilians seeking treatment anxiety disorders 79), civilian women post-traumatic abuse 116), active duty military members assessed 0–90 days following TBI 243), a history 43). Results The analyses revealed consistent, directed associations from independent trajectories use problems, cascading indirect relations social through depression as well direct outcomes. Discussion Our findings suggest primarily drive over time, tend show independence cascade into impairment domains. results have implications refining conceptualization co-morbidity can inform prognostic hypotheses about experiencing along co-occurring distress or impairment.

BACKGROUND Although there is a high degree of comorbidity between posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and drug use disorders, little is known about causal relationships between PTSD, exposure to traumatic events, and drug use disorders. METHODS In a longitudinal study in southeast Michigan, 1007 adults aged 21 to 30 years were initially assessed in 1989 and were followed up 3 and 5 years lat...

There is increasing recognition that mental health has serious implications for operational performance, retention, and compensation. Although little controlled research exists with this population, preliminary evidence s...

متن کاملFunctional neuroimaging studies in posttraumatic stress disorder.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a significant problem that can affect individuals who have been exposed to a traumatic event or events, such as combat, violent crime or childhood abuse. Over the past several years, neuroimaging studies of PTSD have focused on elucidating the brain circuits that mediate this disorder. In this article, we will briefly introduce some of the methods used i...
