Cathodic Corrosion Inhibition of Steel by Musa Paradisiaca Leave Extract

چکیده

It is reported here that the phytochemicals present on surface of Musa paradisiaca (MPL) prevent water and other corroding agents from having direct access to mild steel. These were extracted MPL using 70% Ethanol solution Weight Loss experiment was carried out with variation temperature, time concentration HCl extract in % v/v. The inhibition eFFect M. leaves steel aqueous solutions Hydrochloric acid investigated at 25, 35, 45 60 oC being immersed simultaneously independently medium over a period 12, 24, 48, 72 hours. A protecting film appeared metal by via electron donation, hence, acting as cathode. temperature immersion inversely proportional effciency while directly proportional. FT-IR showed oxygen nitrogen containing functional groups which are general characteristics typical corrosion inhibitor, Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS) investigation revealed different biomolecules thus suggesting plant consists molecules.
