Catalytic hydrogen combustion using platinum supported on anodized aluminium oxide adhered to metallic aluminium

چکیده

The implementation of catalytic hydrogen combustion (CHC) can mitigate the dependence on solid fuel typically used in Sub-Saharan Africa as a means heating. However, low-cost and readily available materials for catalyst fabrication are relatively unexplored. Considering economic constraints regarding platinum group metals generally CHC, cost support its functionalization has to be minimized. Typically, such silicon carbide foam, extruded aluminium oxide-based ceramics, titanium oxide mesh/sintered plates withstand high temperatures associated with CHC. In this paper, nanostructured anodized (AAO) was synthesized material via anodization purity (>99%) (Al). AAO layer intimately adhered metallic Al core acted thermal conduit disperse heat throughout catalyst. Platinum (Pt), considered reactive metal, deposited nanoparticles diameter approximately 19.3 nm. CHC reaction proceeded spontaneously surface Pt/AAO A temperature of408 ± 18 °C maintained 70 h at 100 normal (N) mL min-1 flow rate. Pt-particles showed appreciable increase particle size (from nm 25.0 nm), but significance thereof not evident during procedure.

Calcium platinum aluminium, CaPtAl

A preliminary X-ray study of CaPtAl has been reported previously by Hulliger [J. Alloys Compd (1993), 196, 225-228] based on X-ray powder diffraction data without structure refinement. With the present single-crystal X-ray study, we confirm the assignment of the TiNiSi type for CaPtAl, in a fully ordered inverse structure. All three atoms of the asymmetric unit have .m. site symmetry. The struc...

Anodic oxide formation on aluminium-terbium alloys

Aluminium terbium alloys were prepared by simultaneous thermal evaporation resulting in a thin film library covering a 5 to 25 at.% Tb compositional spread. Synchrotron x-ray diffraction (XRD) proves all of the alloys to be amorphous. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements reveal the structural changes upon increase in Tb content with the formation of small, Tb-rich segregations right ...
