Catalase Like-Activity of Metal NPs–Enzyme Biohybrids

In this work, an efficient synthesis of bionanohybrids as artificial metalloenzymes (Cu, Pd, Ag, Mn) based on the application enzyme a scaffold was described. Here we evaluated effect changing metal, pH medium, and amount in these metalloenzymes, where changes metal species size nanoparticles occur. These nanozymes were applied degradation hydrogen peroxide for their evaluation mimetics catalase activity, best being Mn@CALB-H2O, which presented MnO2 nanostructures, with three-fold improved activity compared to Cu2O species, CuNPs@CALB-P, free catalase.

We demonstrate that Co(3)O(4) nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit intrinsic peroxidase-like activity and catalase-like activity. The peroxidase-like activity of the Co(3)O(4) NPs originates from their ability of electron transfer between reducing substrates and H(2)O(2), not from ˙OH radical generated. As peroxidase mimetics, Co(3)O(4) NPs were used for colorimetric determination of H(2)O(2) and glucose.
