چکیده
Here we present a patient who had unexplained ascites despite lengthy series of investigations. Extrathoracic manifestations constrictive pericarditis such as re- solving often cover the true situation and lead to delayed diagnosis. A six-year-old boy was referred our hospital due three-year history abdominal distention, difficulty in breathing. chest x-ray revealed heart enlargement. The diameter induration tuberculin skin test 14 mm. Echocardiography cardiac magnetic resonance imaging showed pericarditis. diagnosed with tuberculosis origin Cardiac catheterization performed, pericardiectomy. started on an anti-tuberculosis drug leading complete cure ascites.

“End-Stage” Constrictive Pericarditis—A Case Report
Aim: To report a case of “end-stage” constrictive pericarditis with clinical manifestations such as ascites mimicking as cirrhosis of liver. Introduction: In “End-stage” constrictive pericarditis, the etiology remains unknown in majority of cases and inflammation plays a central role in its development. It has been readily confused with cirrhosis of liver in which there may be ascites, but veno...
متن کاملCan CMR be the new ‘gold standard’ for constrictive pericarditis?
Historically, the cardiac catheterization has been the ‘gold standard’for the evaluation and confirmation of constrictive pericarditis. Noninvasive CMR should have a potential role to be equivalent or even superior given its abiltiy to detect both the anatomic and physiologic impact of an abnormal pericardium. Via RF tissue-tagging, we show that CMR could be a contender for a new non-invasive s...

Constrictive pericarditis is a rare and severe disease. A 37-year-old patient was admitted in the hospital for dyspnea, precordial pain, right-sided cardiac failure. Chest X-ray showed cardiac enlargement and an opacity suggestive for pleural effusion. Echocardiography revealed an adhesive-effusive-constrictive pericarditis, a very thickened pericardium and bilateral pleural effusion. After a p...
متن کاملConstrictive pericarditis presenting as unexplained dyspnea with recurrent pleural effusion.
There are myriad causes of unexplained dyspnea and pleural effusion. When a patient presents with these symptoms, an underlying pulmonary pathology is the commonly suggested etiology. We present a patient with unexplained dyspnea and recurrent right-side pleural effusion who was evaluated with thorough physical examination and definitive imaging modalities, including right and left heart cathet...
