Case Presentation: Re-revision Quad Tendon Repair and Vastus Advancement
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: The quadriceps tendon is crucial in allowing knee extension, attaching distally to the patella. While ruptures of are rare, retear can lead muscle atrophy and complex deficits with retraction which may make revision repairs difficult perform. To avoid re-rupture, repair commonly augmented an allograft or autograft, theoretically strengthening repair. Indications: Patients indicated for surgery when presenting a chronic, symptomatic rupture verified on provocative testing advanced imaging. Technique Description: Adhesions fibrotic tissues around vastus muscles released. Sutures anchor materials from previous reconstruction removed. Fibrotic at distal end retracted quad then loosened proximal aspect applied traction through suspension suture placed tendon. gap measured V-Y quadricepsplasty was performed twice length gap. In tendon, limbs V-plasty left incomplete. Next, allow tightening exertion Y limb sutured together side-to-side fashion distalization while retaining patellar medial lateral were closed suture, completing advancement. superior pole patella removed prepare reattachment. Two anchors sides placed, threads both tied Krackow configuration. lateral-sided knots over covered again Achilles allograft, Results: Outcomes have been promising, good excellent functional outcomes, successful return activities, objective outcomes. Discussion/Conclusion: Although initial studies report favorable outcomes following current techniques, there lack quality literature primary Future necessary determine reliability, efficacy, clinical this procedure. Arthroscopic Quadriceps Tendon Repair: Two Case Reports
Recently, although some studies of open repair of the tendon of the quadriceps femoris have been published, there have been no reports in the literature on primary arthroscopic repair. In our present study, we present two cases of quadriceps tendon injury arthroscopically repaired with excellent results. Case 1 involved a 68-year-old man who was injured while shifting his weight to prevent a fa...

Background: Wound complications following open repair for acute Achilles tendon ruptures (AATR) remain the subject of significant debate. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of covering repaired AATR using well-nourished connective tissues (paratenon and deep fascia) to avoid complications after open repair. Methods: In this case series study, open repair was performed for 3...

INTRODUCTION We report a case of isolated, unilateral avulsion of the vastus lateralis tendon from its insertion at the patella. This was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging, and underwent successful surgical repair. CASE PRESENTATION A healthy 32-year-old national level power lifter presented with an isolated avulsion of the vastus lateralis tendon. After a failed course of conservative ...

A paucity of literature exists on quadriceps tendon reruptures. Failed quadriceps tendon repair can cause significant morbidity and disability. Surgical management of quadriceps tendon rerupture can be challenging due to tissue degeneration, tendon retraction, muscle atrophy, and poor bone fixation. A lack of guidance in the literature exists on the appropriate surgical techniques for managing ...
