Case of An Isolated Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation Presenting as Right Sided Heart Failure

Trivial to mild tricuspid regurgitation is commonly seen in patients with a normal right heart. It usually asymptomatic and when severe enough may cause symptoms of right-sided heart failure such as ascites, edema congestive hepatopathy. We present case 46-year-old female who presented progressive bipedal edema. Transthoracic echocardiography showed dilated atrium ventricle regurgitation. Patient then underwent valve replacement 29mm bioprosthetic valve. Final histopath report myxomatous degeneration leaflets. Post-operatively, patient developed increasing shortness breath orthopnea. A repeat transthoracic echo revealed decompensation decline ventricular systolic function. was given inotropic support milrinone norepinephrine adequate diuresis IV furosemide. She gradually weaned off the inotropes. Prior discharge, echocardiogram done improvement function she discharged on oral furosemide spironolactone.
