چکیده

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a neuropathy disease that affects the median nerve with an incidence of around 90%. appears in 3.8% general population, highest prevalence occurring women. There are several risk factors associated CTS, namely medical and non-medical factors. The mechanism carpal tunnel syndrome until now still very complex not known certainty, but compression traction thought to be most common cause CTS. can manifest clinically subjective signs such as paresthesia, proprioceptive changes, paresis, well objective signs, changes motor sensitivity function, positive Tinel Phallen tests, thenar muscle atrophy. diagnosis based on classic symptoms pain, numbness, tingling, and/or burning sensation distribution hand, abnormal function conduction studies. Conservative therapy option. Especially patients mild moderate symptoms. given form corticosteroid physical therapy. Patients severe CTS or whose have improved after four six months conservative should considered for surgical treatment.

Carpal tunnel syndrome--diagnosis and management.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, the most common entrapment neuropathy of the upper extremity, is caused by compression of the median nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel. Classically, patients with the condition experience pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve, which includes the palmar aspect of the thumb, index and middle fingers, and radial half of the ring finger. A...

Management of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Carpal tunnel syndrome affects approximately 3 percent of adults in the United States. Pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve are the classic symptoms. While Tinel's sign and a positive Phalen's maneuver are classic clinical signs of the syndrome, hypalgesia and weak thumb abduction are more predictive of abnormal nerve conduction studies. Conservative treatment options i...

Electromyographic diagnosis of the carpal tunnel syndrome.

Sensory conduction velocities of the median nerve were studied from digit to palm and from palm to wrist in normal subjects and in patients with the carpal tunnel syndrome. Definite slowing was noted in the palm to wrist segment, even in the early carpal tunnel syndrome. It was noted that 37% of normal women over 40 years of age had electrophysiological evidence of the carpal tunnel syndrome.
