Carotid body tumour resection using combined general anaesthesia and cervical plexus regional anaesthesia technique: a case report and review of literature

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carotid body tumours are rare benign that originate from neural non-chromaffin cells typically localized near bifurcation of carotid artery. Reported incidence tumor was 1-2 per 100,000. Surgical removal the is most definitive treatment. It has a high perioperative morbidity and mortality We combined general anaesthesia with regional technique for better haemodynamic stability. Basic elements anaesthetic management protection hemodynamic stability maintaining cerebral perfusion pressure. Few cases have been reported as now. The aim this study to evaluate CBT surgery present literature knowledge.

Cognitive impairment and general anaesthesia - Case report.

Degeneration of cholinergic receptors causes memory disorders and irreversible impairment in cognitive functions, whose advancement can lead to clinically recognizable Alzheimer's disease (AD). Very often, the first symptoms of AD are mood swings and hence depression should be excluded by differential diagnosis since it can also cause memory disorders and cognitive deficits. Due to the characte...

Regional anaesthesia for carotid endarterectomy.

Summary Regional anaesthesia is a popular choice for patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy (CEA). Neurological function is easily assessed during carotid cross-clamping; haemodynamic control is predictable; and hospital stay is consistently shorter compared with general anaesthesia (GA). Despite these purported benefits, mortality and stroke rates associated with CEA remain around 5% for b...

The anaesthetic drugs used were fentanyl, propofol and sevoflurane....
